Des Mortels et des Dieux

Home site of the episodic fantasy story by Bastien Dal Busco. In order to facilitate content management, the client and I chose the static site generator Hugo, because of a few key advantages over other website building tools.

One of the main benefits is its speed. Because Hugo generates static websites, it doesn’t need to rely on databases or server-side scripting, which can slow down other platforms. This means that websites built with Hugo load quickly and provide a great user experience for visitors.

Netlify’s web hosting is directly linked to the GitHub repository of the project. This allows for each commit from the client to rebuild the site and put the changes online very quickly, without any intervention from me or the client.

Adding an episode is very simple: put a pdf document and a jpg image in the folder of the corresponding season. A commit on GitHub and the site is updated.
