Pain au sarrasin

Pain au sarrasin (buckwheat bread) is a collaborative showcase for Maude Renevier, freelance graphic designer / illustrator / bookbinder, and me. This project allows us to exhibit our creative abilities and our way of working together.

Through this exercise, we want to offer a total harmony between our web developer and graphic designer practices.

Passionate and always on the lookout for new things, we guide our customers who want to be present online with a website that stands out from the competition.

We also invite you to take the time to visit pain au sarrasin’s about page to discover the creative process behind this project.

We cooked an actual buckwheat bread, captured it in 3D using photogrammetry, and finally animated it.

Many 2D hand-drawn animations were created for this project.

We also produced 3D animations with orginals models for each step of the recipe.

Technicalities

The static site generator Hugo was chosen because of a few key advantages over other website building tools.

One of the main benefits is its speed. Because Hugo generates static websites, it doesn’t need to rely on databases or server-side scripting, which can slow down other platforms. This means that websites built with Hugo load quickly and provide a great user experience for visitors.

The multilingual feature was also used to create an English and a French version of the site.

GitLab CI/CD is used for the build process of this site: on each git commit to the main branch, the site is rebuilt. Then, the generated files are sent to Infomaniak’s web hosting platform. The whole process takes less than 30 seconds.
